What it does for you

01

Quiet enough for the couch

The motor is rated under 45 dB with low vibration. It's built so you can do nails where your dog already relaxes, not on the bathroom floor.

02

A little at a time

A grinder smooths the nail down gradually instead of cutting it in one go. You stay in control, nail by nail.

03

See what you're doing

A built-in LED light shines right where you work, so the nail is easier to see, even in a dim room or on darker nails.

04

Made to fit your dog

Three guard ports for small, medium and large nails and five speeds, from gentle for puppies and small dogs to stronger for thick nails.

Why quiet

Nail care shouldn't need a wrestling match.

Dogs hear a wider range of sounds than we do. A tool that buzzes and rattles in your hand can turn a two-minute job into a chase around the house.

So we went for quiet. Sotto's motor is rated under 45 dB, with low vibration, a guard cap that only lets the nail tip through, and a small light where you work.

The idea is simple. Sit down where your dog is comfortable, do a nail or two, give a treat, and stop. Short and calm, at your dog's pace.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Say hello first

Let your dog sniff the grinder while it's off, then turned on at the lowest speed. Treats help. Take as many short sessions as you need.

  2. 2

Pick a port and a speed

Choose the small, medium or large port to fit the nail. Start slow. Use the higher speeds only for thick, hard nails.

  3. 3

One nail, a little at a time

Hold the paw gently, turn on the light, and touch the nail tip to the bit for a second or two at a time. Stop well before the quick. Do a few nails, reward, and come back later.

Questions

Will my dog be okay with it?

Every dog is different and we can't promise any dog will love nail day. Sotto is made to be quiet and low on vibration, which helps. Introduce it slowly: let them sniff it while it's off, then turn it on at the lowest speed nearby, with treats, before you touch a nail.

How do I avoid the quick?

Take a little off at a time, a second or two per touch, and check the nail as you go. Use the light. On light nails you can see the pink quick. On dark nails, stop when the cut end shows a small dark dot in the middle. If you're unsure, ask your vet or groomer to show you once.

Which port and speed should I use?

Small port and low speed for small dogs and puppies. Medium for most medium dogs. Large port and higher speeds for big, thick nails. Always start on the lowest speed.

Is it strong enough for a large dog?

Yes. Use the large port and the higher speed settings for thick, hard nails, and give each nail a few short passes.

Can I use it on my cat?

The maker lists it for cats as well as dogs. Use the small port and the lowest speed, and keep sessions very short.

How long does the battery last?

It has a built-in 1200mAh battery. The maker rates it at up to 11 hours of continuous use per full charge. A light at the base shows the charging status.
